If you want to change things in your life or your business, it can be tempting to do it all at once. Throwing in everything all at once and then see where and how it will land.
But what can happen is that you will feel overwhelmed by it and there’s a big chance your changes won’t last. You’ll end up falling back into old patterns because the way you changed everything wasn’t sustainable.
For example; If you decide you want to create a healthier lifestyle, you can choose to go full in and do it all at once. Let’s say you decide to go train 5 days a week, eat 100% ‘healthy’, go for an hour walk everyday and make sure you have at least 8 hours of sleep.
That is a big change if you first didn’t do these things and you’re not used to it. It can be exhausting, overwhelming and too much to handle, why you might give up because ‘it doesn’t work for you’.
At least, it looks like it doesn’t work but the shift was just way too big. Too much all at once.
If you would take baby steps and implement one change at the time, it would be way more sustainable and it wouldn’t take as much effort because it doesn’t have that much impact on your daily routine. That way you build it into your lifestyle one step at the time and you don’t have to think about it anymore after a while. It becomes a habit.
When it comes down to business, it’s the same. In a conversation with a client we talked about the importance of relaxing and taking time for yourself. Because when you work all the time and don’t take care of yourself because you don’t allow yourself to, you’ll burn out at some point. You’ll never feel fulfilled and happy.
So he said: ‘If I put in the work now, then over 3 years I will have time to work less and take more time off.’
But the thing is, the work will never end. Ever. There will always be more to do and your to do list will never end. Especially not when you keep growing and growing.
It’s an illusion to think it will be easier to take time off and to take care of yourself when you’re further in building your business.
If you can not take the time to take care of yourself now, why would that be different or easier in three years?
Taking care of yourself is as important (or I would even say MORE important), than getting the work done.
You are the engine. If the engine cannot work in full motion, you are lacking results.
If you decide to implement time off and make taking care of yourself a priority now, imagine where that will bring you in three years from now…
By taking small steps and implementing things one step at the time, you’ll have massive and exponential results over time. For yourself, in your life and in your business.
Long lasting results which will bring you further and further with a solid foundation to build on and an incredible powerful engine.
Small steps, big result.
What is something you want to change in your life and/or business?
Think about it. What’s one small step you can take right now?
Let me know! I’d love to hear it.
And if this all sounds interesting to you and you’re up to playing a big game with BIG results, I’d love to have a conversation with you.
